Road to Life Balance and Heart Health: One-Day Program
If you are ready to begin looking at your life balance and heart
health, this one-day program is for you! Dr. Treister and staff
begin with the Life Balance Awareness and measures of cholesterol,
body composition and other markers of your health. Discussions and
experiential sessions include an overview of the heart in health
and disease, yoga, mindfulness-based meditation, nutrition and a
workshop on effecting "Small Steps for Change". A busy
but mindful day devoted to your present and future heart health!
Beginning
Change: Two-Day Program
You will learn about the heart in health and disease along with
ways to assess and optimize your health. Measure your LDL and HDL
levels. Enjoy red wine and chocolate while you learn about their
health effects. Take part in group activities for exercise, relaxation,
and stress management. Some of our most popular workshops include:
Unlocking the Mysteries of the Heart, Yoga from the Heart, Stress
Management, and Qigong: Movement as Medicine. Our signature spa
treatment is also available during your Salus stay.
Focused
Change: Three-Day Program
This program allows you to identify and explore more fully your
individual needs and learn new skills to incorporate into your daily
activities. A cardiac examination and cardiac blood panel with computerized
risk assessment can provide a detailed picture of your current “heart
health.” Choose a specific focus for further study, such as
relaxation and stress management, nutrition and diet and mindful
meditation or yoga.
Exploration
& Change: Four-Day Program
The extended length of this program allows for in-depth experiences
in several of the healing practices. Lectures include information
about practical issues in healthcare delivery and learning the skills
to become a savvy healthcare consumer. You may opt for a thorough
cardiac evaluation, including cardiac examination and a computed
tomography (CT) scan to measure coronary artery calcium and diagnose
atherosclerosis at an early stage.

The Salus Yoga experience:
learn different approaches to Hatha yoga and how yoga improves
the heart and blood pressure. Participants master simple but
powerful poses that they can do on a regular basis to increase
flexibility, improve posture and achieve relaxation. |

Women and Heart Disease:
heart disease is the number one killer of women, just as it
is of men. However, there are some significant differences in
the causes and presentation of heart disease in women. Dr. Treister,
who leads this program, is a recognized expert on heart disease
in women and a regular lecturer on the subject at The Golden
Door resort. |

The Salus Tennis Program:
learning to practice yoga, mindfulness and improving balance
and the breath can all improve your tennis game. This Salus
program is offered in conjunction with the professional teaching
staff at the Rancho Bernardo Inn. Participants receive several
hours of tennis instruction in addition to yoga and mindfulness
practice designed to improve performance. |
