Biography
Dr. Neil Treister, MD, Medical Director
Dr. Treister is co-founder and Medical Director of Salus Heart and Wellness. He received his doctor of Medicine from Stanford University School of Medicine in 1980 and is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. While at Stanford, he organized and led an innovative course entitled Patient Education in the Management of Chronic Disease. In addition, he helped create a cardiovascular fitness program at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. Dr. Treister has practiced cardiology for 15 years and was the founding partner of

Temecula Valley Cardiology, the largest cardiology group in Southern Riverside County. Although he is an invasive and interventional cardiologist by training and experience, he understands that it is critical to balance the various aspects of diet, exercise and stress reduction as well as other interventions to foster greater cardiovascular health and slow the progression of atherosclerosis. The Salus Heart and Wellness Program is the culmination of his years of work with patients and heart disease and embodies his commitment to helping people explore new ways of thinking about their health. Dr. Treister maintains a part-time practice of cardiology in association with the group he founded in 1992.

In 2003, Dr. Treister became the first medical director of the Cushman Wellness Center at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego. He helped design and implement a comprehensive Health Screening Program for individuals seeking a detailed medical evaluation that includes blood work, stress testing, coronary calcium scoring, nutritional and exercise assessment and physical examination.
