Overview
Salus Heart and Wellness is the first Spa for the Heart and Mind™
with a customized and holistic approach to well-being. Founded in
2001 by Dr. Neil Treister, a board-certified cardiologist, and Rosemary
Pfuhl, a licensed therapist specializing in stress management. Salus
is located in Rancho Bernardo, California (25 miles North of San
Diego) at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, a resort destination with amenities
such as a five star restaurant, world class golf course and luxurious
day spa. Salus offers two-, three- and four-day programs which allow
participants to relax and escape the stresses of everyday life while
gaining useful wellness information that can be incorporated into
any lifestyle.
Salus
Heart and Wellness specializes in providing balanced, heart-focused
wellness programs tailored specifically to individual needs and
health concerns. Each Salus program combines up-to-date information
on heart health, the best of complementary medicine and a holistic
approach to lifestyle awareness to create a total wellness experience
for the heart and mind.
The
Salus approach emphasizes the interconnectedness of the mind, body
and spirit. Salus recognizes that the journey to optimal health
can take many forms and that each person will travel a slightly
different path. Salus’ tailored programs allow participants
to create their own customized wellness experience – one that
fits with their unique lifestyle.
Anyone who is
interested in educating themselves about their heart, their health
and how everyday stress affects overall well-being can benefit from
the first Spa for the Heart and Mind. Salus programs provide useful
information and lifestyle enhancement techniques for healthy, active
individuals, as well as those with or at risk for heart disease.
The information about diet, exercise, cholesterol management, nutrition,
mindfulness meditation and many other topics will benefit anyone
in today’s fast-paced world.
While
participants learn about how to maintain optimal health, Salus also
believes in helping to heal the mind. Through signature spa treatments,
relaxing yoga classes and nature walks in the surrounding foothills,
an experience at Salus will leave participants refreshed, relaxed
and ready to take on the world.
Dr.
Neil Treister, a board-certified cardiologist, personally leads
all Salus Heart and Wellness programs. In addition, the staff at
Salus is comprised of medical and wellness experts who are uniquely
sensitive to participants’ specific interests and medical
needs. The small group size (limited to no more than 20 participants)
ensures an intimate experience that meets individual health and
wellness needs.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Ms. Pfuhl

Multi-day Programs
at the Salus Center
 |
Two-day programs provide an overview of the heart
and various approaches to wellness. There is time to experience
specific activities such as meditation, stress management yoga
and massage. Blood work analysis is also provided. |
 |
Three-day programs allow for a more comprehensive curriculum
with greater emphasis on individual needs assessment and learning
new skills to incorporate into daily activities. |
 |
Four-day programs include a thorough cardiac evaluation with
cardiac examination and computer assessment of cardiac health.
The extended length of this program allows for more in-depth
exploration of several of the healing practices and holistic
approaches to well-being. |
Group
Presentations and Workshops
Salus also offers focused, customized group presentations and workshops.
Salus’ group programs can be integrated into planned meetings
or can stand alone as part of organizational effectiveness, well-being,
or leadership initiatives.
These
presentations and workshops can be as brief as one hour or as long
as several days. Companies and groups can choose from predefined
topics or create their own unique events. Working closely with each
